We have been offering the law degree at the University Centre now for five years, and had our first cohort of graduates in 2004. In the last couple of years we have seen several students gaining an upper second class honours degree and most recently in 2008, a First Class Honours was awarded to one of our successful students. After completing the LLB(Hons) Law, many of our students go on to further study to train as solicitors and barristers.
This is not the only avenue open to law graduates, however. A law degree is a passport to jobs in many areas such as business or finance, for example; and local government, the Foreign Office, the Crown Prosecution Service offer exciting opportunities for graduates with the necessary analytical and organisational skills.
Students come to us from all walks of life, all age groups and diverse cultures. This diversity creates a very special study environment where students learn to respect each others’ differences and qualities and gain an enormous amount of knowledge of humankind, an invaluable commodity when preparing for the world of work.
Staff here have a wealth of experience and will help you to achieve your potential and guide you through the skills you will need as a potential lawyer. You will take part in a mock trial, visit courts, maybe do a two week work placement, learn to solve legal problems and ‘advise clients’.
Students always leave saying they can’t believe how quickly the three years has gone, and how much they have enjoyed the experience.
If you think you have the skills to become a lawyer, why not give us a call. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain!
